Service
Family therapy
Support for families facing stress, conflict, or communication challenges.
What it is
Family therapy supports families experiencing stress, conflict, trauma, or communication challenges. The work focuses on improving understanding, strengthening relationships, and helping families find ways to respond more effectively to emotional and behavioural challenges.
This service is especially relevant where difficulties are affecting the whole family system, including parenting, sibling relationships, and wider home life. Sessions are trauma-informed and adapted to the needs of children, young people, parents, and carers.
Who it’s for
- Families who keep having the same argument and want a way out of it
- Households navigating a big change, a loss, or a difficult diagnosis
- Parents and carers wanting to understand and respond to a child differently
What a session is like
Sessions run for around 60 minutes, and who comes can change week to week — sometimes the whole family, sometimes just some of you. The therapist helps everyone get a fair hearing rather than taking sides. Early on we map out what’s happening and what each person hopes will change. It is normal to feel awkward at first; the room is set up so no one is blamed.
How to start
You can enquire directly, or ask a school, GP or local authority to refer you. Mention this service and we’ll pick up from there.
